 Celebration of 76th Republic Day of India in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated by the Embassy of India in Riyadh with enthusiastic participation of nearly six hundred people that included members of the Indian community, Embassy officials, and media in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

2.  The celebrations began with the unfurling of the tricolour by Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, followed by singing of the national anthem. Ambassador read out Hon'ble President's message to the Nation and Indians around the world on the occasion of 76th Republic Day. In his remarks, Ambassador highlighted the significant contribution of Indian diaspora towards making the India-Saudi Arabia relationship strong and vibrant.

3.  The remarks were followed by diverse cultural performances by school children and Indian community members – a mix of classical and contemporary dance performances and songs filled with patriotic fervor. Ambassador felicitated Dr. Syed Anwar Khursheed, who was recently conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award by the Hon’ble President of India. Further, the top-scorers of Bharat Ko Janiye quiz and the performers of today’s cultural event received certificates from the Ambassador & Spouse. Later, Ambassador interacted with the members of Indian diaspora and local journalists.

4.  The Embassy organized an official reception on this auspicious occasion at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh on the evening of 26 January. The event was graced by the Mayor of Riyadh, His Highness Prince

Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf. The reception saw participation of over 500 distinguished guests including resident Ambassadors, senior representatives from Saudi government, businesses, think tanks, academia, media, and members of the Indian diaspora. Ambassador Khan spoke on the occasion highlighting the significant strides that had been made in the India-Saudi Strategic Partnership and the economic and scientific progress that India had made in recent years. The guests also enjoyed the sampling of Indian cuisines at the various food stalls set up at the venue for this occasion.
