Reissue of the Passport

A passport is reissued under the following circumstances:

Validity Expired or Validity due to Expire

An application for reissue of passport can be submitted anytime within one year before the expiry of the validity or after the expiry of the validity.  However, if the passport is expired for more than three years, the application should be supported by Sworn Affidavit explaining the circumstances and the reasons for the late renewal.

Requirements

  1. Applicants are required to fill online application form at https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in and carry a printout of the filled in application form. (Personal Particulars form is NOT required in case of ONLINE APPLICATIONS).
  2. Three recent passport-size photographs of 2 inch x 2 inch with white background. 
  3. Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklet(s), if any).
  4. Photocopy of Passport (first two and last two pages and all pages of observations, if any, made by Passport Issuing Authority)
  5. Copy of valid Iqama (original to be shown for verification).   A copy of printout showing validity of Iqama from Ministry of Interior website (https://www.moi.gov.sa/wps/vanityurl/en/ps/pps/query-iqama-expiry-service) may also be submitted.
  6. Personal presence of the applicant at the Application Centre is a must.
  7. Prescribed fees.

  9. Tatkal Facility: Tatkal service (same day delivery) can be availed provided the applicant is eligible for that service. This service is available only in Riyadh VFS Centre. Applicant may visit without prior appointment on any working day (Sunday-Thursday) between 09:00 am to 12:30 pm.
  10. Change in Particulars:  Prior approval from the Embassy is required in respect of change of particulars such as name, parent name, spouse name etc.  However, prior approval is not required in cases of i) change of address (with proper address proof)  ii) addition of spouse name (with proof) and iii) splitting of name (with two name proofs).

Note:- If passport is renewed after 3 years from the date of expiry, an affidavit (AFF 7.pdf) is also required to be submitted.

Exhaustion of visa pages

An application for reissue of passport can be submitted if the pages have exhausted or not enough pages are left for affixing visas.    

Requirements

Change in Existing passport particulars

An application for reissue of passport can be submitted for changes in any of the existing particulars in the passport viz.,

Change of Name

Inclusion of spouse's name

(a) Marriage Certificate or Joint Photo Declaration signed by both husband and wife

(b) Copy of  Passport/Aadhar ID of the spouse

Note : Marriage Certificate originating from India should be attested by concerned State Home department and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi or its Branch Secretariats

Deletion of Spouse Name 

(a) Divorce order/decree)

Change of Spouse Name upon Re-marriage 

(a) Divorce order/decree from a judicial court or death certificate of first spouse and
(b) Re-marriage certificate or Joint Photo Declaration by both husband and wife
(c) Copy of  Passport/Aadhar ID of the spouse 

Note : Divorce order/decree originating from India should be attested by the concerned State Home department and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi or its Branch Secretariats


Deletion of ECR Status

The category of persons eligible for non-ECR status on the passport is given here.

Non-ECR status is granted on the basis of stay abroad for more than 3 years only in those case where their travel abroad is approved by POE. 

In addition to the requirements given above, a copy of printout og grant of POE clearance from the website of emigrate (https://emigrate.gov.in/ext/preECStat.action)
